Long before she sang of rehab and tears drying on their own, Amy Winehouse was a happy-go-lucky 14-year-old, as seen in old home footage from the new documentary Amy.

The clip, shot at the birthday party of one Lauren Gilbert, begins as most British events do: with unintelligible English. Eventually the girls giggle over lollipops before singing “Happy Birthday” to Gilbert—until Winehouse joins in. Then they all fall silent and let her sing the rest solo, because even at age 14, Amy Winehouse sounds exactly like Amy Fucking Winehouse.

Packed with tons of old, archival footage of the prolific—and prolifically troubled—singer, the doc premiered last May to glowing reviews. Except from Winehouse’s father, Mitch, who has denounced the filmmakers for portraying him “in the worst possible light.”
