CBS Will Use Bruce Springsteen in a Sad Ploy for Ratings
Whenever I think about Bruce Springsteen, American rock legend, I can't help but also think about the CBS drama The Good Wife. Because nothing goes together quite like The Boss and Juliana Margulies. Do you feel the same way? Of course you do. It's only natural.
And CBS will gladly capitalize on this obvious connection in an interesting—if not totally sad—move to drum up ratings for The Good Wife. CBS will begin to stream Springsteen's High Hopes on their website beginning at 7 p.m. on January 5th, right before the network airs a preview of an upcoming The Good Wife episode featuring Springsteen's music.
The January 12th episode of The Good Wife, entitled "We, the Juries," will feature three Springsteen songs from the album. According to Robert King and Michelle King, executive producers and creators of the show, "We love using music in The Good Wife, and we always have the music inform the action and the cutting." This makes it very different from those other television shows that hate music and throw it in randomly.
But, depressingly, none of this will really help CBS or The Good Wife because Amazon accidentally sold the album last week. The people who would have listened to Springsteen on CBS.com have most likely already purchased or illegally downloaded their own copies of the album.
