As Eva Mendes desperately tries to sell the Eva Mendes for New York & Company clothing line, which is probably being pitched as "feminine" and "flirty," she must remind you: pants are bad and uncomfortable. Dresses (from the Eva Mendes for New York & Company collection) are great. But pants? No, thank you.

Last week, Mendes told Extra that "the number one cause of divorce in America is sweatpants," which no one could statistically prove to be true or false, but most could determine was a stupid thing to say. Our stance? Wear a cape made of rat carcasses—wear whatever you want.

Mendes responded to sweatpants warriors by posting a photo of loungewear she has definitely not worn, resting on a dirty floor, with the caption: "Dear favorite pair of sweatpants. I was just kidding when I said you're the #1 cause of divorce. Everyone knows that orange crocs are the #1 cause of divorce. Either way it was a bad joke and feel terrible if you or anyone thought I was serious. Thanks for understanding sweatpants. Sorry orange crocs."

Please.

Ryan Gosling, her potato-headed husband, also took to social media to defend Mendes, which was only surprising because no one knew that guy even had a Twitter.

One one would think Mendes had learned her lesson, but, she fucking hasn't. In an interview with WhoWhatWear about the Eva Mendes for New York & Company collection (which she describes as "versatile," "bling-y," and—yes—"feminine"), Mendes goes in on the evils and discomfort of wearing pants:

I love a soft pant, so I make sure they're included in every collection. But if you see me in jeans it's probably because all my skirts are at the dry cleaners or just dirty. I mean, I think jeans are really uncomfortable actually—aren't they? They're so restrictive! I always prefer a boyfriend jean, but I find those to be restrictive, too! It's not unrealistic to see me in an outfit like this at home [points to her skirt], just without the belt and the shoes. I'd wear this with a loose tee or a tank top.

Rats. She's said too much. The most insane thing imaginable is a person wearing a (feminine) skirt and a "loose tee" while relaxing at their home, where only your baby and your potato-headed husband can see you.

But you know, even if Mendes's pants tirade is reaching the masses, she cannot hear her detractors. Well, that is unless you are posting in favor of pants all over the New York & Company Facebook page, the only website Eva Mendes goes to:

So, I've trained myself to never Google myself or read comments… but I actually do read the comments on the New York & Company Facebook page and I noticed that many women were saying, "Thank you so much for this collection! We wear it a lot to weddings."

Thank you so much for this collection, Eva Mendes.
