I am Jack's buzzing iPhone.

Fight Club author Chuck Palahniuk recently spoke to USA Today about plans for a sequel to his 1996 novel, turned 1999 film, Fight Club. Appropriately titled Fight Club 2, the sequel will come in the form of a 10-part comic book series to be published by Dark Horse Comics. From USA Today:

Fight Club 2 takes place alternately in the future and the past. It picks up a decade after the ending of his original book, where the protagonist is married to equally problematic Marla Singer and has a 9-year-old son named Junior, though the narrator is failing his son in the same way his dad failed him.

At the same time, Palahniuk says readers will have an idea of Tyler's true origins. "Tyler is something that maybe has been around for centuries and is not just this aberration that's popped into his mind."

Palahniuk says the series will bring back most of the characters from the original, and will once again involve the organization Project Mayhem, which, according to USA Today, "still has its hooks in the narrator as he has to save his boy when the youngster's life is in peril."

The comics will be illustrated by Cameron Stewart and are set to debut in May 2015. That means the film sequel will debut in, what, early 2017? That means we're going to have to get a jump on reinventing some of the original's classic lines! I'll begin:

  • "It's only after Find My iPhone doesn't work that we're free to do anything."
  • "This is your battery life and it's ending one percentage at a time."
  • "The apps you download end up downloading you."
  • "You're not your job. You're not how much money it says you have in your bank's app, once you remember your password. You're not the Uber you hail. You're not the contents of your Venmo. You're not your fucking OS."
  • "We're a generation of men raised by smartphones. I'm wondering if another smartphone is really the answer we need.

Hmm. Mostly about phones, I guess!
