FXX's Totally Biased Has Been Cancelled

I'm hearing from multiple writers on FXX's Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell that the show has been officially cancelled by FX.

The show, which is currently in its second season, just moved to FXX this season, after FX launched their secondary network this summer. Hosted by stand-up comedian Bell, its known for intelligently skewering news and current events, and boasts a writing staff of all stand-up comedians.

I reached out to FX, and did not receive immediate comment. This story is still developing, and I'll keep you updated as we learn more.

Update: Deadline wrote a few weeks ago about the declining viewersip for Totally Biased since it was moved over to FXX—a network available in 26 million fewer homes than flagship FX.

Second Update: FX's PR rep, John Solberg, just got back to me to confirm that the show has indeed been cancelled. Per Solberg, "It's a bummer. We love the show, he [Bell] is an incredible talent. Unfortunately the ratings didn't meet the expectations; that's why we had to make the decision. The final show will air Sunday night."

this show had a certain charm to it. Bell was kind of awkward with his delivery. And some of the jokes did not work. However, it was a helluva lot more entertaining than Key and Peele.

Agreed he was it a bit awkward, but that was part of its charm.

It was a breath of fresh air. It's a goddamn shame it was canceled.

Key and Peele is Leno-light. Safe and obvious.

When the President of the United States says he finds your show funny you're not, by definition, doing your job as a comedian.

They did not do the best advertising for the new FXX channel, personally I keep forgetting there is such a channel.

my local provider wanted to charge extra for FXX. we wouldn't do it. i heard one of the big 2 dish providers did too. dunno about the other one.

It must've been hurting in ratings if they couldn't even keep it alive on FXX. What's the point of that sub-network, if not for allowing struggling shows to find their footing? I've only seen segments online, but it seemed decent and it was rather awkward when he had Sarah Silverman on, which made for good TV.

Why would it get better ratings on FXX? FXX is not available to me even if I wanted it. Nobody watches FXX. They moved shows that people like there in an attempt to get people to watch it, but instead they ensured that nobody will be able to watch those shows. If you're going to use an established show to try to lure anyone to watch some new channel nobody has ever heard of, you'd at least think they'd give them a pass on ratings for the season.

I bought It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia on iTunes, but apart from that any other shows they put in their obscure upper channel Siberia is never going to be heard from again.

Well, what does "keep it alive" mean, though? It's a brand new network, you'd think if anyone would be able to tolerate low ratings for a bit to let a show build, it would be a network that isn't delivering any viewers in the first place and has no right to bitch if it's "losing" viewership. This is just more stupidity from the people who control what you watch on TV, who are, as a rule, at almost every network, and throughout the history of television, tasteless morons.

Especially since they have very few original shows on the channel. Hard to build a viewing block with one show.
