Gandolfini's Last Meal: 8 Drinks, Mayo-Drowned Prawns , NY Post Says

Yesterday, the New York Post devoted many touching articles about the sudden death of James Gandolfini, but today it trots out its cabal of Italian dining spies who have the specifics about his final meal.

The menu includes:

* Four shots of rum

* Two pina coladas

* Two beers

* Two orders of king prawns slathered in "mayonnaise chili sauce"

* A "heaping" portion of foie gras

Most other media outlets are stuck with a "friend's" report that Gandolfini died of a regular, old American heart attack, but we can now see that, thanks to the Post, he apparently was happy and full at the time.

Every time I go on vacation it takes me at least two weeks of busting my ass to lose any weight I picked up from eating like a disgusting pig, so, yeah. Not sure what should be surprising about this.

Considering it was Italy, yes. Less Pina Colada and more Aperol spritzer. Less foie gras (which is more French than Italian) and more of this.

You know, if my last meal is going to be dissected by the whole world, I'd prefer if at least I left a legacy of gourmet appreciation!

My last meal in Italy went like this: A salumi plate that was crazy generous with a big fat disc of raw cotechino. A decent plate of Bucatini all'Amatriciana followed by a secondo of lentils with more cotechino. Salad of wild greens, a cheese plate and an amaro. Many glasses of the house red throughout. Walked up the street to Della Palma and had a large gelato and then walked over to San't Eustachio for several espressos. Walked up 90 stairs to my apartment and did not die. Wanted to die on the plane the next morning, but alas.

Oh, come on. This is silly. It's not like this meal killed him. It was probably some combination of years of unhealthy eating, hereditary genes, lack of exercise, etc. If he had eaten a light salad and only drank water it probably would not have made a difference.
