Malcolm-Jamal Warner, who played Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, is now speaking out about the dozens of women who have accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault. He told the Associated Press on Thursday that he’s primarily upset about the tarnished legacy of The Cosby Show.

“My biggest concern is when it comes to images of people of color on television and film, no matter what,” he said. “Negative stereotypes of people of color, we’ve always had ‘The Cosby Show’ to hold up against that. And the fact that we no longer have that, that’s the thing that saddens me the most because in a few generations the Huxtables will have been just a fairy tale.”

Warner also said that he has been in touch with Cosby, but he didn’t want to reveal the nature of their conversations:

I think the things that we discussed really have to stay private between us. But it’s just a bad situation all around—for him, for his family, the women, their families, the legacy of the show.

Today, Cosby will testify in a deposition regarding one of the accusations against him, despite his lawyers’ bid to dismiss the (civil) suit. In this case, accuser Judy Huth has alleged that Cosby forced her to perform oral sex when she was just 15 years old. Cosby’s testimony will be sealed until at least December.
