A little over a month after news broke that he was in the final stages of negotiations for the heavily-rumored-about part, Marvel has confirmed that Benedict Cumberbatch will play the titular role in 2016's Doctor Strange.

Producer Kevin Feige released a short statement about the choice:

"Stephen Strange's story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity. In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character."

In the words of commenter AnonyKopimi, who was talking about someone else: "Why NOT Dr. Strange? He's already MR. WEIRDO."

PS: I love you, Benedict! Marry me instead!
