Netflix Debuts House of Cards Season Two Trailer

No need to make dinner reservations or even shower this Valentine's Day as Netflix's second season of House of Cards will be released Feb. 14. The trailer was released today with a promising synopsis:

Frank's rapid ascension to the heights of power means big changes for both him and Claire, but his sudden rise creates powerful enemies and the increasing chance that his dark secrets will be exposed.   
There is but one rule: Hunt or be hunted.

The video itself begins with Frank Underwood being sworn in as the Vice President. Then, like most planned Valentine's Day social engagements, it ends with anger, fear, and throwing shit.

But if you really can't wait a few weeks for a House of Cards fix, Netflix just added director's commentary for season one.

Definitely curious to hear some "House of Cards" conversations. I'm actually not that excited for it… I thought the first season was good, but binge watching wasn't as easy for me as other shows. Did anyone else struggle with this?

Okay, I'll bite. I skimmed through the very first episode, and that's as far as I got. There are so many demands on my television time that I can't even fit my regulars in, so a show has to be really exceptional, and...this one looked pretty cookie-cutter.

Plus, I've already watched Thick of It/Veep. I know everything there is to know about politicking.

It's certainly much less clever and intriguing than it thinks it is. The whole prostitute thing from the first season seemed to be a much bigger plot point than it needed to be. And there was really nothing stand out except it being very stylish.

I work in TV news, and I loved the "inside baseball" politics/reporting/etc. element of the first season, though every once in a while, a line of dialogue or a plot tangent would strike me as a bit beneath the quality of the rest of the show... and I think we can all agree that the last handful of episodes sort of went off the rails a bit. That being said, I will likely have mainlined the entirety of season 2 before 12:01AM on February 15th.

I loved it. I agree that it's a tough binge-watch, though, it didn't stop me from doing an 8-episode binge one weekend night.

I love Spacey's performance, and Robin Wright's character intrigued me. The series ended a little shlocky for me, but I am looking forward to the next just to see Spacey chew up more scenery. He deserves all the Emmies.
