America's director Oliver Stone will be tackling another piece of our nation's socio-political history, this time via the Steven Spielberg-produced Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. biopic.

Just days ahead of the release of his 5-year documentary passion project, the ten part "Oliver Stone's Untold History of the United States," Stone confirmed to The Wall Street Journal that he would indeed be proceeding with the rumored biopic.

While the biopic is of course based on a true story, Stone quickly pre-empts the historical accuracy criticisms films like Captain Phillips are currently under. As WSJ reports, "Although Stone said he was firmly tethered to the truth when it came to Untold History, he called himself a dramatist and intends on placing those characteristics center stage in the development of the MLK film."

Jamie Foxx is rumored to be circling the titular role.
