After months of exhausting fantasy casting blog posts, Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot with an all-female cast is this close to setting its leads: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig and Saturday Night Live's Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones are all in final talks to star.

Feig himself appeared to confirm the group's casting on Twitter today:

After the project with Feig was made official last August, a host of actresses were rumored to be circling roles, including Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, and Rebel Wilson. And one of the emails leaked in the Sony hacks reveal that Channing Tatum pleaded with Sony exec Amy Pascal to led him and Chris Pratt lead a Ghostbusters spinoff. (No thank you!)

According to THR, the new Ghostbusters will be "an origin story of new characters who take up ghostbusting and not a 'hand-off' movie from the original 1984 film." It's unclear what role (if any) remaining Ghostbusters crew Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Ernie Hudson might have in the new film.

Kate Dippold will pen the screenplay; Feig previously directed her comedy The Heat with McCarthy and Sandra Bullock (he also directed Bridesmaids with Wiig). Production is expected to start this summer in New York.
