One of the best sites in the world, in its day (pre-AJ). People still look at my email address, widen their eyes and ask, “Are you raincoaster FROM DEFAMER???”
Those days are gone, but one never forgets those heady times when the commenters were bright* and the burns were tight.
*You know, within reason.
It’s funny, if someone has a unique-enough name on the Gawks Media, you will sometimes catch echoes of them about the general Internets at large — I’m certain I’ve run into various iterations of the Raincoasta here and there ;()
It was so much fun, once upon a time. I never understood why an empty, masturbatory hack like AJ got so many chances from Denton.
AJ was such a huge asshole.
The only goddamn one of these blogs where I was out of the grey. Figures. You will be missed, Defamer and I look forward to your rising again during the next, inevitable, restructure.

My favorite Gawker site by far, which never really became what it could easily have been.
I personally suspect it was murdered by Kristin Cavalleri.
Agreed it’s hard to defend it after that shit but it was good and awesome they didn’t even really give it a chance as it wasn’t even on the drop down list you had to google it or get to it when an article featured was featured on the homepage,other than the Kristen shit never clicked on that.
I came back for the 500 finale but it was all a bit overish a bitprematurelyish. But I will be buying the book. For the memories.
