Looking forward to hearing Sinead O'Connor sing "Nothing Compares 2 U" again? Maybe just one more time? Just once and then you won't ask anymore, you swear—you swear to god? Ha! Good luck.

Sinead O'Connor announced in a Facebook post this week that the sun has set on her "Nothing Compares 2 U" days. She explained that the manner in which she is trained as a singer prevents her from singing songs with which she does not "emotionally identify," and, after singing this one for twenty-five years, she "finally ran out of anything [she] could use in order to bring some emotion to it." Dang. Makes sense. She continues:

"I don't want audiences to be disappointed coming along to a show and then not hearing it, so am letting you know here that you won't. If I were to sing it just to please people, I wouldn't be doing my job right, because my job is to be emotionally available. I'd be lying. You'd be getting a lie."

Fair enough, Sinead O'Connor.

We can still watch the vid, though:

And her Saturday Night Live performance of Bob Marley's "War," during which she tears up a picture of the Pope and says "fight the real enemy," why not:

I went to the doctor and guess what he told me
(Guess what he told me)
He said girl you better try to have fun
No matter what you do
But he's a fool
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to a live performance of "Nothing Compares 2 U"

The End.
