Sophia Grace Is the Latest Addition to Disney's Into the Woods
Ellen staple and world's most adorable "sack of potatoes", Sophia Grace Brownlee—turns out her name isn't SophiaGraceNRosie—has been cast as Little Red Riding Hood in Disney's remake of the Sondheim-classic Into the Woods, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Putting aside obvious reservations about how 10-year-old Brownlee will pair up with 50-year-old Johnny Depp playing the Big Bad Wolf (the original musical is chock full of girl-on-wolf sexual tension) this is perfection. The Little Red role is a cheeky and precocious one, both of which Sophia Grace has in spades. And who knows, alongside 13-year-old Daniel Huttlestone's Jack, a part typically played by someone older and more hearthrobby, they might just pull it off.
After the failures of Oz The Great and Powerful and The Lone Ranger, Disney is looking to score a hit with the Rob Marshall-directed adaptation. And since the movie is slated to release Christmas 2014, that gives them plenty of time to not, well, Disney this.
