It looks like Saturday Night Live executive producer Lorne Michaels is finally ready for this whole diversity business, as it was announced Wednesday that two black women will be added to the show's writers' room.

In an exclusive report, The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Leslie Jones and LaKendra Tookes will join the show's writers' room starting Monday. Both Jones and Tookes were discovered during the show's recent—and secretive—castmember audition process in December. While UCB alum Sasheer Zamata was ultimately hired to star, sources claim that producers were "impressed with both Tookes and Jones and thought they were talented, smart and funny."

Both women—even though it will be questioned by assholes—have extensive background in writing and comedy. Jones, a veteran actress and stand-up comedian, has guest-starred in The League and Sullivan & Son and written for Def Comedy Jams and 1st Amendment Stand Up. Tookes, a former news reporter from Florida, was trained at Improv Olympic's iO West theater.

While it could change, the show currently has no plans to feature either woman onscreen. SNL returns Jan. 18 with Drake serving as both host and musical guest.
