First comes the incredible war story, then comes the film adaptation. Bowe Bergdahl, the American POW recently freed by the Taliban in exchange for five Guantanamo Bay prisoners, will be the subject of a movie coming to theaters as soon as possible, but who will get the rights to make the film is a battle that's just beginning.

As Vulture points out, two groups in Hollywood are vying to produce the Bergdahl biopic. One group is led by the powerhouse distribution company Fox Searchlight, which purchased the rights to the late Michael Hastings' story about Bergdahl in Rolling Stone. The other group is made up of Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal, the team behind modern warn film standards The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty, and you can almost picture their eyes lighting up upon hearing of Bergdahl's release.

The losing party can have the rights to the life story of Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe.
