Jon Hamm, who recently completed a 30-day stint in rehab, is headed to our televisions on April 5 in the return of AMC's Mad Men. But why wasn't he headed to our movie screens back on October 3 when Gone Girl came out? Hmm. A good question.

Jon Hamm was not in Gone Girl. Instead, Ben Affleck was. —What? That seems crazy. First Jon Hamm hasn't played any superheroes even though people like him and he looks like a superhero (white, suit, dark hair), and now this? Sometimes I understand Hollywood, but sometimes—sometimes I just don't.

A Page Six source explains the sinister reason behind Jon Hamm's distracting Gone Girl absence:

"Matt would not let Jon out of his contract to do 'Gone Girl.' Jon was really upset about it at the time — and is still upset, because he's thinking about the future of his career as 'Mad Men' comes to a close." Another source said Hamm couldn't do the film due to "the 'Mad Men' shooting schedule."

Just incredible. The source adds Hamm is annoyed he couldn't take the Ben Affleck role in Gone Girl because "he'd be leaving the show with a hit movie and a gritty film role under his belt," and also because that movie made so much money.

Damn. Makes sense.
