Who's the Boss's Danny Pintauro Says He Contracted HIV Through Oral Sex
Danny Pintauro, who played squeak-voiced Jonathan on the classic ‘80s sitcom Who’s the Boss, recently came out as HIV positive on an episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, and was subsequently barraged with idiotic questions that revealed new sides to the deep ignorance of Candace Cameron Bure on The View (“I want to know, do you take responsibility for your actions? For being promiscuous, going into a lifestyle of having heightened sex because of the meth that you were using? I want to know what the message is. Because you want to be the face of HIV, to give that a face. But what is the message that you have? What does that mean?”).
In a new interview with Us, Pintauro says that he contracted HIV through oral sex:
Believe it or not, with this guy I was actually safe. We did use condoms. I got it another way, which was through oral sex, which is a complicated story. When you put all of these nasty things together, like a compromised immune system, having been up for a long time, drugs, rough sex, all of that combined with lesions in your mouth, maybe, or bodily fluids mixing, it’s that easy.
Pintauro, now 39, previously revealed that he started doing crystal meth at 27.
So if you’ve never heard of someone contracting HIV through oral sex (and given all that Pintauro has revealed and the televised idiocy he’s already faced, there’s no reason not to believe him about that), now you have.
To Bure’s questioning, Pinauro explained, “I don’t want to be a hero. I don’t want to be the role model. I want to be the example. I want to be the example of what can happen if you get into drugs, if you’re being promiscuous, if you’re not taking care of yourself, if you’re not being checked, if you’re not living a healthy, responsible lifestyle.”
He also attempted to teach Raven-Symoné (and The View’s daytime audience) about the concept of being undetectable. A noble cause, indeed. Pintauro has teamed with HIV Equal to be an example via social media.
