NBC released the first photo of Allison Williams dressed as Peter Pan this morning via Today's Twitter account and, to its credit, it certainly features a complete set of body parts, assembled together in Peter Pan-style clothing.

"Who is this mystery person?" you wonder, inching closer to your screen. "The face looks almost familiar, placed unconvincingly on the head of, it seems, a young boy. The body...could it be from an America's Next Top Model Peter Pan-themed photo shoot?" You stare briefly before giving up. "Who is it?" you ask. "What solves this mystery?"

Hmm. Yes. Well, sure. OK.

In an Instagram showcasing this Peter Pan look, Allison Williams explained:

The transformation begins! My first shoot as Pan. Fun fact: I was all ready to cut my hair, then was told by the folks who actually know what they're doing that a wig works better for everybody. So, December 4th, here we come. #wiglife #peterpanlive #nbc

"I was poised with the scissors in front of my mirror—ready to snip, snip, snip—when I got a call. 'It is the people who know what they're doing,' they explained, or some such, 'And a wig would work better for everyone.' Ah, they caught me right in time! 'Ah, you caught me right in time," I exhaled. 'I was all ready to cut my hair, but, if a wig would work better for everybody...' 'It would,' they confirmed, and I collapsed into bed. The smell of summer came in through an open window and I knew, all at once, that they were right. A wig. 'A wig' I said aloud, and, you know, it sounded right. 'A wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig,' I said it until it lost its meaning. 'A wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig a wig.' This life. Full of honesty, and heart. This is truly my life—the life of Allison Williams."
