Our spies have uncovered Sony's official letter of interest for purchasing MGM:

Dear MGM,

Hi! Listen, I know that we've kind of been talking about stuff lately, and I've been dropping a fair number of hints (okay, five billion of them!) But I suppose that we need to make this all official. I know, I know. You're not the type that wants to put labels on everything. I understand. I also know that Time Warner has also been hanging around. Listen, I can't tell you what to do. I don't want to be a dick and point out that the whole AOL thing didn't exactly work out great for them. You know that story already.

I guess the only way to say it is to just come out and say it. I want you. I want you five billion ways. And if you know what's really best for you, you'll come around. You don't want a Comcast situation, where they come on all strong and then dump you while everyone's trying to lop off your CEO's head. Please don't make me sit outside your window and pretend that I just happened to be driving through the neighborhood.

Let's do this.

Love,
Sony
