Since Craig Ferguson announced his departure from the Late Late Show on Monday, fans have been anxiously awaiting news of his replacement. According to the Hollywood Reporter, they'd better be getting comfortable.

"We haven't really thought about it yet. We want to let this sink in," said CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler in an interview with the magazine. An heir apparent will certainly not have been chosen by May 14, when CBS is set to give its upfront presentation—a big spectacle where networks show off their fall primetime lineups and announce major programming changes.

Not all late-night transitions are as smooth as those we've been blessed with in the past year. And this early in the process, Tassler is just as in the dark about the rest of us. The Hollywood Reporter also writes that names as different as Neil Patrick Harris and Amy Schumer have reportedly been floated. In the mix as well are Aisha Tyler, Michael Ian Black, Joel McHale, and even the apparently still marketable Sean Hayes.

At least execs have some time to decide: Ferguson isn't leaving for another eight months.
