As Halle Berry and her ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry try to work out how much child support she owes him for the care of their six-year-old daughter Nahla, another issue has bubbled up. According to TMZ, Berry took Aubry to court this week for trying to make Nahla look "white."

TMZ reports:

Halle was furious Gabriel was straightening Nahla's naturally-curly hair, lightening it with highlights and she is convinced it's because he does not want the girl to appear to be African American.

Halle didn't show in court Monday morning, but her lawyer Steve Kolodny did, along with Gabriel and after a lot of arguing the judge ruled NEITHER Halle nor Gabriel could change Nahla's look from its natural state.

According to TMZ, the judge "is allowing Nahla's hair to grow back naturally."

Back in 2011, Berry told Ebony that she "feels like" Nahla is black. She explained:

I'm not going to put a label on it. I had to decide for myself, and that's what she's going to have to decide—how she identifies herself in the world. And I think, largely, that will be based on how the world identifies her. That's how I identified myself.

But I feel like she's black. I'm black and I'm her mother, and I believe in the one-drop theory.
