SPOILER ALERT (just kidding, the following information was spoiled weeks ago by selfish people who do not pay attention to legal contracts): Last night on the season finale of The Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe picked Ryan Gosling “lookalike” Shawn Booth in the final rose ceremony. Surprise—not.

The show’s much-hyped ending—Who’s she gonna pick? Shawn? Nick? A life of solitude—the only reasonable option?—was a snooze, because Kaitlyn “accidentally” revealed she picked Shawn in a sexy, public Snapchat video in June.

I’m sorry—why is Kaitlyn not in jail?

For those unfamiliar with the workings of The Bachelorette, after the finale is taped, the winning couple is supposed to go into hiding for weeks until the finale is aired, so as not to spoil the ending. Every other couple in the 13-year history of the Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise has managed to do this successfully, most likely because they were contractually obligated to do so. Just don’t...post a video...of yourself in bed with your secret fiancé...on Snapchat?

Kaitlyn does not even seem sorry for her social media “blunder.” Last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she merely said that she “felt bad” for ruining the entire show for people who are so rarely surprised in life and count on the suspense of The Bachelorette to provide a modicum of joy in their otherwise despairing lives.

If not jail time, Kaitlyn should at the very least face a civil suit for a portion of the money she now makes, thanks to her Bachelorette celebrity, shilling headphones and tanning lotion on Instagram.
