Remember when bestselling haircut Taylor Swift was eyeing a role playing Joni Mitchell in an adaption of Sheila Weller's book Girls Like Us, chronicling the rise of Mitchell, Carly Simon, and Carole King? Joni herself is claiming responsibility for putting the kibosh on the whole idea.

Excuse me, squelched. She squelched it. "I squelched that! I said to the producer, 'All you've got is a girl with high cheekbones'," Mitchell told the Sunday Times. "It's just a lot of gossip, you don't have the great scenes."

The project, originally set up at Sony and Di Bonaventura Pictures, never officially offered Swift the role and apparently tested a host of actresses to play Carly Simon and Carole King. From Variety:

Rising stars testing for the role of Simon include Allison Williams ("Girls"), Jessica Pare ("Mad Men") and Analeigh Tipton ("Crazy, Stupid, Love"); among the actresses who will read for the role of King are Alison Pill ("The Newsroom"), Olivia Thirlby ("Dredd 3D"), Ari Graynor ("For a Good Time, Call") and Zoe Kazan ("Ruby Sparks").

Allison Williams as Carly Simon...yeah right! This movie sounded like a bad idea from its conception and it's probably best it never happened.
