Rachel Dolezal, former Spokane, Wash. NAACP leader, gained infamy over the summer for being white instead of what she said she was: black. What does Rihanna think about Rachel Dolezal? I’m so glad you asked.

In Vanity Fair’s November cover story, Rihanna shares a slightly different opinion than the sort of opinion you’ve come to expect when someone shares his or her opinion about Rachel Dolezal. (“Fucked up.”) A breath of fresh air. A new fall look. Watch out—here comes something dissimilar.

“I think she was a bit of a hero,” said Rihanna, “because she kind of flipped on society a little bit.” She continued:

“Is it such a horrible thing that she pretended to be black? Black is a great thing, and I think she legit changed people’s perspective a bit and woke people up.”

Huh. Well. Fair enough, Rihanna.
