Last night's premiere of Sharknado 2: The Second One on SyFy really reeled in a shark tornado's load of shark ratings.

According to The Wrap, Sharknado 2 had 3.9 million viewers—up from the 1.4 million viewers acquired by the original. From The Wrap:

The Syfy phenomenon pulled in 3.9 million total viewers on Wednesday. As a result, the cable channel is replaying it on both Saturday and Sunday.

That number is nearly three times what the original TV movie got in its debut, with the sequel setting a Syfy Original Movie record in the process.

The second and third airings of the first Sharknado pulled in 1.9 million and 2.1 million viewers, respectively, making it—at the time—SyFy's most-watched original movie. Sharknado 2: The Second One's 3.9 million unseats the first as the network's most-watched original movie.

Truly, a wonderful day to be a sharknado.
