John Cleese Viciously Insults Taylor Swift's "Irreparably Damaged" Cat
John Cleese made fun of Taylor Swift's cat Olivia Benson on the Graham Norton Show last week. Which is a huge mistake, John Cleese! Taylor Swift is someone with a demonstrated history of not being able to handle gentle ribbing on talk/awards shows, despite her proclamation to "shake it off." You know what you get for making fun of Taylor Swift? A song written about you that gets played everywhere and listened to by everyone who knows it's about you, man. The fallout from being the subject of a Taylor Swift song is not something to joke about: No one has seen Jake Gyllenhaal in two years; Harry Styles is being photographed vomiting on the side of the road.
"Is that a proper cat? Is it damaged irreparably? It's the weirdest cat I've ever seen in my life," Cleese said after seeing a photo of Swift's cat, which is named after a sex crime detective. Swift glared back. "I much prefer cats," he went on, digging the hole for his pop song grave ever deeper. "They're unpredictable and cussed—like women!" Nice knowing ya, John!
Swift appeared to fire back at Cleese this morning, uploading this photo to Instagram with the caption, "'Is that a proper cat?' -John Cleese PS Meredith in the background just straight chillin." Olivia is making a face that one can only be read as, "This woman who won't let me leave this dungeon is going to write a song about you."
