Lindsay Lohan Arranged $10,000 Charity Donation Just to Be Nice
After attempting to pass off greeting fans and letting young people follow her around as community service, Lindsay Lohan is due back in court this Wednesday to prove that her 240 completed hours are legit. Prosecutor Terry White has been investigating Lindsay's work, which she completed through a London-based organization literally called Community Service Volunteers.
In the midst of all this fact-checking, TMZ reports that Lindsay lobbied Esurance—the insurance company that put her in its Super Bowl commercial—to donate $10,000 to CSV. Why did she do this? TMZ notes, "It's possible the judge could ask CSV for more info about Lindsay's community service and the money could taint the legitimacy of CSV's response."
Lindsay's lawyer Shawn Holley tells TMZ that Lindsay arranged the donation purely out of the goodness of her own heart. "To take Lindsay's positive efforts in supporting CSV and turn them into something negative simply to sell a story is offensive," she says. "Lindsay has been involved in helping to raise funds for this wonderful organization since she started her community service there and she has continued her work as a volunteer, even though her community service was completed weeks ago."
According to TMZ, Lindsay convinced Esurance to make the donation by explaining that she likes what CSV does for underprivileged children.
