Actress Nikki Reed and actor Ian Somerhalder tied the knot this weekend in what the Daily Mail describes as “the mountains of Santa Monica.” Photos from the nuptials tell a different story, the title of which is Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder Got Married in a Ditch: A Story.
According to the Daily Mail, at one point during the official wedding portrait session, the groom “carried his bride down a muddy slope so that her dress didn’t get dirty.” Here’s what that looked like:

While it was certainly thoughtful of the groom to carry his bride over this filthy threshold, passersby could easily have mistaken the scene for something more insidious, such as a murderer carrying his victim to her death (in a ditch).

The couple, who have been dating for nine months, were greeted at the bottom of this ditch by their wedding guests, a hat-wearing ditch-dwelling rat pack that reportedly included Lea Michele and her boyfriend.
