Taylor Swift Has Learned to Be Wrong in Private
Former almost-Kennedy Taylor Swift has learned a lesson, she says, from losing her public battle with Nicki Minaj over the VMAs earlier this year.
For those who don’t remember all the tweets that were tweeted in the wake of the MTV VMA nominations announcement in July, the tussle began when Taylor bullheadedly inserted herself into a discussion about race and popular videos by tweeting that Nicki was “pitting women against each other” by complaining about the nominations process.
Taylor, simply, was wrong. (And hypocritical, as other pop star Katy Perry pointed out in a subsequent, nearly impenetrable tweet, because Taylor’s nominated video—“Bad Blood”—is about being mean to Katy Perry.)
All that’s in the past now, and Taylor has had ample time to think about her actions and others’ reactions to them and cull some kind of wisdom from it all. What did she come up with?
“I send text messages now,” Taylor explains in a new interview with NME. “If there seems to be some kind of misunderstanding, I go to someone’s management, I get their number and I text them.”
She adds, “It’s an important lesson for anyone to learn in 2015.”
An important lesson for Taylor Swift, sure.
