Breakdowns: Miley Cyrus Chews on Bed Sheets in Her New Video
Miley's just bein Miley, Justin's just bein Justin, and Jesse Jackson's definitely just bein Jesse Jackson. Just a normal December day in Hollywood.
- Miley Cyrus released the video for "Adore You," and it sure is something. There's a lot of writhing in sheets, video camera selfies, finger sucking, and an interesting bathtub scene that seamlessly transitions into a shower scene. [YouTube]
- The Wolf of Wall Street topped the Christmas day box office with approximately $10 million while The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug followed with $8.9 million. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty even made $7.5 million because some people would rather watch Ben Stiller than sit at home with the family on Christmas. It's a sad economic fact, but an entirely understandable one. [Variety]
- It's official: Jesse Jackson has controversially weighed in on that Duck Dynasty stuff. "These statements uttered by Robertson are more offensive than the bus driver in Montgomery, Alabama, more than 59 years ago," Jackson told ABC News. "At least the bus driver, who ordered Rosa Parks to surrender her seat to a white person, was following state law. Robertson's statements were uttered freely and openly without cover of the law, within a context of what he seemed to believe was 'white privilege.'" [ABC News]
- Speaking of white privilege, it's a real problem in Hollywood and it's not getting much better. As John Horn writes, "Even if Hollywood likes to present itself as magnanimous and liberal, its hiring decisions — including jobs handed to women — continue to be demographically constricted, with most work still going to white men." [LA Times]
- While the rest of you spent Christmas Day watching terrible movies with your terrible family, Jennifer Lawrence visited Kosair Children's Hospital in Louisville, Ky. She's also at war with Joan Rivers, or Joan Rivers is at war with her, but in the spirit of the holidays, we'll focus on the children. [E! Online]
- DirecTV is raising prices by 3.7% in February and blaming the increase on the programming fees it pays to TV networks. Expect a new round of "cord-cutting" conversations, but most people will continue to pay because in the real world, most people prefer Duck Dynasty to Netflix. [Variety]
- Finally, Justin Bieber retired or something on Christmas Eve and then he didn't or maybe he did but who the fuck cares? Far more interesting are new 911 calls released from parties at Bieber's house. [TMZ]
